Kevin and I try to be careful to give our “olders” (Elizabeth & Sam) the time they need with us so they won’t feel that the “youngers” (Grace & Bella) are getting all attention. We hope that each of our children know that they are a “part” of this family and not the “center” of it. Ultimately, we strive to impart to them that God is the center of our lives and not the other way around. 🙂
So, Kevin and I took the “olders” out to dinner last night to visit while the “youngers” had time with one of their favorite sitters Anne. While we were waiting for our dinner to arrive, we played a game of trivia which was printed on the restaurant advertisement placard. Too fun!
Then, we went to a video store to try and pick out a movie. Let’s just say that it is beyond difficult to find a selection we could all agree on. Then, I remembered that some friends had suggested a movie about an inner city chess team. Kevin texted his buddy and found that the movie was called “Knights of South Bronx”.
After renting the movie & picking out some treats, we went Kevin’s office to watch the DVD. It was a feel-good movie that we all really loved.
All in all, it was a good night with our olders!
And, to brag a bit on the olders….I wanted to share that both Elizabeth and Sam garnered some honors these past weeks:
Elizabeth “starred” in all three music performances at the State competition–a clarinet solo, a woodwinds trio, and a girls vocal ensemble.
Woo Hoo, way to go “olders”! So proud of you both….
Love, the Oldest
